Preheat the oven to 200°C (top/bottom heat). Unroll the puff pastry on baking paper and cut it in half vertically.
Spread the ajvar evenly on one half of the puff pastry and sprinkle with the grated cheese.
Brush the second half of the pastry with half of the egg yolk and sprinkle with the sesame seeds. Place it on top of the ajvar and cheese side, with the sesame side facing up.
Using the baking paper, carefully flip the pastry over so the uncoated side is on top. Brush with the remaining egg yolk and sprinkle with the poppy seeds.
Cut the filled pastry into strips about 1.5 cm thick. Twist each strip several times and arrange them on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, until puffed and golden brown.
