Preheat the oven to 160°C (320°F). Line two 32cm loaf pans with baking paper.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, vanilla sugar, and salt.
Add the milk, 1 cup of vegetable oil, vanilla essence, and the freshly squeezed juice of one orange to the dry ingredients. Mix well to combine.
Incorporate 1 cup of sugar, then add the cocoa powder and mix until the batter is smooth and slightly thick.
In a separate bowl, prepare the filling by whisking together the yogurt, eggs, cornstarch, 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil, and 3 tablespoons of sugar until smooth.
Pour the chocolate batter evenly into the two prepared loaf pans and scatter walnuts over the top.
Spoon the yogurt filling mixture in dollops over the chocolate batter. Finally, top with the well-drained pitted cherries.
Bake in the preheated oven for 50 minutes with the fan on.
Turn off the oven, leave the door slightly open, and let the cakes rest inside for an additional 30 minutes. Let them cool completely before slicing and serving.
Cook it hands-free.
