Grate the zest from the lemons.
In a pot, combine the water and sugar. Bring to a boil to create a syrup, and skim off any foam that rises to the top.
Add the grated lemon zest to the boiling syrup.
Cut the zested lemons in half, remove the seeds, and squeeze out the juice using a juicer.
Pour the lemon juice into the syrup and cook for 10 minutes.
Add the citric acid and bring the mixture to a boil once more.
Strain the syrup through a cloth, let it cool completely, and pour it into a bottle for storage. To serve, mix about 2 tablespoons of syrup per glass of water.
